What evidence supports artwork provenance?
A documented chain of ownership: gallery, auction or prior-sale records, certificates and expert opinions, exhibition and publication history, and any restoration record. An appraisal is an estimate of value and does not by itself prove authenticity, ownership or legal title.
Can an independent gemologist inspect jewellery?
Yes, where the parties agree to it. Who inspects, where, by when and against what acceptance standard should be written into the transaction before funds are submitted, not decided after the item arrives.
How are grading reports and serial numbers verified?
Report numbers and serials recorded in the transaction should be checked directly with the issuing laboratory or the manufacturer where that is possible, rather than relying on a photograph or a copy supplied by the seller.
How does a domain transfer work?
The domain, registrar and registrant control are confirmed, the transfer lock is released, the authorisation method is used to move the domain, and the buyer confirms control after transfer. Domain control, trademark rights and website content are documented separately.
What if the asset received differs from the description?
Do not approve. Preserve photographs, reports, serial numbers, transfer logs and messages, and open a dispute within the applicable period. Do not alter, resize, wear, exhibit, resell or change domain settings for a disputed asset.
Can a collection or portfolio be transacted in stages?
Yes, where permitted. Collections can be itemised with condition records and staged delivery, and domain portfolios can be mapped by registrar with a documented transfer sequence, so release follows each approved stage.
