How it works

Safe marketplace transactions

Rbcpay protects both buyers and sellers by holding payment securely until every condition of the transaction has been met.

Five steps, start to finish

The same sequence applies whether you are transacting a used car, a domain name or a staged consulting project.

1

Buyer places the order

Buyer and seller agree on the terms and the price, and the buyer initiates the transaction on Rbcpay.

2

Payment is secured

The buyer pays Rbcpay, not the seller. The payment is held safely while the transaction is in progress.

3

Seller fulfils the order

The seller ships or delivers the item or service as agreed, and provides tracking or proof of fulfilment.

4

Buyer verifies

The buyer inspects the item, or confirms the service was delivered as agreed, within the inspection period.

5

Payment released

Once the buyer approves, Rbcpay releases the payment to the seller. The payment is final, with no chargebacks.

Why Rbcpay

  • Secure payments
  • Fraud prevention
  • Dispute support
  • Transparency for all

Protection for both sides

Rbcpay makes sure that buyers receive what they paid for and that sellers get paid fairly for what they deliver. Neither party has to move first and hope the other follows through.

Good for high-value transactions

Electronics
And more

The same process, whichever side you are on

The five steps do not change. What changes is what each party is responsible for and when their money moves.

If you are buying

You pay Rbcpay rather than the seller, and nothing is released until you have received and approved what you paid for.

  • Set the inspection period before you pay
  • Reject and return if it does not match the terms
  • No risk of paying a seller you cannot verify

If you are selling

You are told the buyer’s funds are secured before you ship anything, and once the buyer approves, the payment cannot be reversed.

  • Never ship on the promise of payment
  • No chargeback exposure once the sale completes
  • Sell internationally without vetting each buyer

If you are brokering

You set your commission when you create the transaction, and it is released at the same moment the seller is paid.

  • Commission agreed and accepted up front
  • Both parties see the same written terms
  • No chasing either side after the deal closes

Paying in stages

For services and staged deliveries, the transaction can be split into milestones. The buyer funds the whole amount once, and each stage is released only when that stage is approved.

  • Stages and values agreed before any payment
  • Approve and release one stage at a time
  • Remaining funds stay protected throughout
  • A disagreement is contained to a single stage

What is fixed before any money moves

  • The price and the currency
  • What is being delivered, and how
  • Who pays the Rbcpay fee
  • How long the buyer has to inspect
  • What happens if the goods are rejected

Both parties see and accept these terms before the transaction is funded. They are what decides the outcome if anything goes wrong later.

Common questions

Who starts the transaction?
Either party can create it, or a broker can create it on behalf of both. Whoever creates it sets the initial terms, which the other party then accepts or renegotiates.
How long is the inspection period?
It is set by the parties when the terms are agreed, based on what is being transacted. There is no single fixed length, which is why it is worth settling before payment rather than after.
What happens if the buyer rejects the item?
The item is returned according to the terms both parties agreed at the start, and the payment is returned to the buyer.
Can a payment be reversed after it is released?
No. Once the buyer approves and Rbcpay releases the funds, the payment is final and is not subject to chargebacks.
Who pays the Rbcpay fee?
The fee can be paid by the buyer, the seller, or split between both. This is agreed before the transaction begins, and you can see the exact figures on the fee calculator.
Is there a limit on transaction size?
Rbcpay handles transactions from $100 up to $100 million or more. Contact us if your transaction is unusually large or complex.
