How to read this site
Guidance explains. The terms govern.
The help pages on this site are written to be understood. They describe how transactions, payments, shipping, fees and disputes work in ordinary language, with examples.
They are not a separate agreement and they do not change the terms. Where a help page and the terms and conditions differ, the terms and conditions apply. If you find a place where they disagree, tell us, because that is a mistake worth fixing rather than an argument worth having.
What is not a policy document
- A help article or a guide on this site
- An answer given in a support conversation
- A figure in an example or a calculator
- Anything sent to you in a message or an email
- Anything said by someone claiming to represent Rbcpay
If a document is not published on this site under Rbcpay.com, Inc., it is not a Rbcpay policy. That includes anything sent to you claiming to be one.
Guidance by subject
Written explanations of how the terms work in practice. Read alongside the terms and conditions, not instead of them.
Fees and commissions
What is charged, when, and who pays.
Disputes and complaints
Raising a dispute, and complaining about us.
Shipping and delivery
Despatch, tracking and inspection periods.
Fraud prevention
How fraud is attempted, and how to stop it.

What Rbcpay is, in legal terms
Rbcpay.com, Inc. operates a marketplace transaction platform. It is not a bank, a trust company, a licensed escrow agent, a payment institution, an insurer, a carrier, an appraiser or a law firm, and it does not hold itself out as any of those.
Nothing on this site is legal, tax, financial or investment advice. Where a transaction is large, cross-border, or involves regulated property, take your own professional advice before you commit to it.
Changes to these documents
The terms and the privacy policy can change. Each carries an effective date and a last updated date at the top, so you can always see which version you are reading.
- Check the dates at the top of each document
- Continued use after a change means the current version applies
- A transaction is governed by the terms in force when it was created
- Keep your own copy of anything you rely on
Language and interpretation
These documents are published in English. Where a translation is provided for convenience and it differs from the English version, the English version is the one that applies.
- Headings are for navigation and do not affect meaning
- Examples are illustrative, not contractual
- If a clause is unenforceable, the rest still stands
- Ask us if a clause is unclear, before you rely on it
Legal questions
Which document actually applies to my transaction?
The terms and conditions. The help pages on this site explain how those terms work in practice, but where the two differ, the terms and conditions apply.
Do the terms change after I have created a transaction?
A transaction is governed by the terms in force when it was created. Later changes apply to what you do after them, not retrospectively to a transaction already under way.
Where do I send a data access or deletion request?
To escrow@rbcpay.com, from the email address registered on your account so the request can be matched to you. The privacy policy sets out what can be provided and what has to be retained.
How do I complain about Rbcpay itself?
Through the complaints form, so that it is logged and given a reference. That is separate from a dispute between a buyer and a seller about a transaction.
Is Rbcpay licensed or regulated?
Rbcpay.com, Inc. operates a marketplace transaction platform and does not hold itself out as a bank, licensed escrow agent, payment institution or insurer. Where a claim about status or registration is not published on this site by Rbcpay.com, Inc., do not rely on it.
Someone sent me a Rbcpay policy document. Is it genuine?
Check it against this site. If a document, a fee schedule or a set of payment instructions is not published here, treat it as not ours and tell us about it.
Which law applies?
The Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in it, with the courts of Ontario as the forum, as set out in the terms and conditions.
Can I get a copy of the terms as they stood on a particular date?
Ask at escrow@rbcpay.com, quoting the transaction the request relates to. Keeping your own copy at the time you agree is still the most reliable approach.
Read the terms before you transact
Both documents are short enough to read and dated so you know which version you have. If something in them is unclear, ask before you rely on it.
This page is a directory. It summarises where each document sits and does not itself form part of any agreement. The terms and conditions and the privacy policy are the operative documents, and nothing on this page is legal advice.
